AML and GDPR (Privacy) Statement

AML (Anti Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing under the Money Laundering Regulations 2017/2019

LANYOR Ltd t/a LANYOR Bookkeeping and Accounts takes seriously its obligations under the MLR 2017/2019 in relation to AML/TF (Anti Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing). As part of the law in the UK all registered bookkeepers, accountants and tax advisers that are members of a professional institute which acts as an AML supervisor (such as the IAB), or are directly registered with HMRC for AML supervision, must follow certain steps with regard to MLR. We as a profession are ultimately overseen by the FCA (Financial Conduct Authority), and MLR also stretches into other professions such as banking (banks, building societies, credit unions), estate agents, letting agents, conveyancers, financial advisers, solicitors and most art dealers, to name a few. We are required to identify and verify the individual (ID check) as a new client (or beneficial owners of ltd companies, including parent companies). Please do not be offended by this requirement, we are only doing as we have to by law. If you are using or intend to use a new bookkeeper or accountant who do not ask for this information, they either, a) forgot to ask, b) are not doing their job properly, or, c) are operating outside of the law and you/your business risk an increased chance of scrutiny by HMRC or other law enforcement agencies.
